First we coloured our planets, using the colouring page found here. We chose to use the one with Pluto, my kids won’t let me leave it out. 🙂
We used a toothbrush to splatter white paint onto black paper, I saw this here at Pink & Green Mama. The splatters are supposed to be stars and galaxies in the background. The black paper is two pieces of A4 taped together. Holding the toothbrush a bit further away is advisable for smaller splatters. So is less paint on the toothbrush! Jitterbug loved this, so much that we’re going to do this again soon, I’m planning to roll out some butcher paper and let them have at it with various colours.
The finished product. This is Jitterbug’s (5). He needed some help remembering the order of the planets. He started gluing them while I was helping Ladybug and I wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing. We had to pull some of his up to get them all in the right order.
Skeeterbug’s (8). He decided to do his the opposite direction from the others.
Ladybug’s (3). Jupiter’s pink, had to be Ladybug’s, right? Her toothbrush splatters somehow turned into a bit of finger painting. 😉
Displayed on the back of our door under our astronomy poster. Ladybug keeps insisting I need to move hers up!
