Does anyone else’s school table end up looking like this during the day? Anyone?
This table has another leaf in it and I’d really like to extend it but it would block a doorway. With three kids and myself crowded around the table, plus all our supplies, snacks, various toys, etc. our table is often overflowing. I tried setting up an art table and while the kids do make use of it (Ladybug especially), during school time they all want to be at the school table together with me. I find myself trying to work with all of them simultaneously. Challenging, yes. Chaotic, yes. But oh, so good. Here’s Batman Jitterbug watching while Skeeterbug is learning Roman numerals.
Skeeterbug quizzing Ladybug on her colours. (I just noticed that in this picture we’ve got Batman, Rapunzel, and a superhero with a green cape!)
Watching a youtube video together.
Playing a game together.
I love that my kids get to learn from each other and with each other. I love that they get to interact more than if they were all in different classrooms during the day. I love that they are exposed to things that might be considered too old or too young for them. And who gets to clean up the mess? 🙂 I usually clean up the school table but the kids help out with any other mess in the room.
